I think they might have heard of the linux based
activities going on @ MIT, and so ...
I was told about this during the inauguration of lug at MIT by
several students. But it looks like there is a strong interest in
OpenSource.
Let's not get too much worried about students getting exposure to
Proprietory software. We should accept the reality of today's life
that they need to know those technlogies as well [ atleast for few
more years as M$ products provides good job market]. As long as they
have good knowledge and interest in software freedom let's not
bother.
My assessment of MIT students gives me confidence that Linux is not
under any threat there.
But the same cannot be said about many other colleges,as knowledge
about Linux among students is low. Here we need to do some ground
work, so that they are not carried away by proprietory concerns.
