Many people currently using Windows for production, ask for concrete
ways to migrate to Gnu/Linux. Getting to know Gnu/Linux is ok. Moving
"their" stuff from Windows to Gnu/Linux is the difficult part for some.
So far as email and office suite files are concerned, they are almost
readily interoperable. But things like large programs written using,
say VB, or accounts on Tally, may get messy during migration, and may be
difficult to port. We need a clean list of things that are
interoperable, and things that won't migrate easily. Is there any
program in the free software world that could use VB source code to
build executables? Or, should the VB code be simply dumped, and written
afresh with more portable languages? A tidy list, in the Indian
context, may help migration in a better way.

Uses gcc [interix?] well, I guess. Many GNU Project tools have been
"optimised" for SFU, and released under the GPL:
