Ctrl+Alt+F1 should (hopefully) put you in a terminal :)
Things were easy in Windows since it had (at least by default) only one
window manager (Explorer). I believe Ubuntu Live CD comes with GNOME by
default, so it would be Alt+F1 for opening the GNOME Application Menu.
I don't know the equivalent for KDE, I've never used it.
But why don't you look into fixing the problem instead? Check whats the
mouse device and protocol configured in XF86Config or xorg.conf.

Seriously, the subject you have used isn't much helpful for anybody
who's searching for the same problem.
