[Ilugc] MySql on SuSe (installation query)

While my team and myself were trying install my sql 4.0.18 over
Suse 8.1, we repeatedly kept running into the same error while
passing the statment "./configure --prefix=/usr/local/mysql". The
same error which read that the SQL daemon was initiated. Our
problem is exactlly this as our step was to run the make file which
should have been generated upon sucessful execution of the
./configure.....  statement mentioned above. Default installation
does not preload any version of mysql though it is available as an
additional package when u try and install extra software from the
CD.

Would appreciate  any relevant feed back that might alliviate our
position and thus mitigate the error.

Is it binary package?. I have seen such messages with binary.

In case of binary there is no need to do configure[though that file
exist].

Try to read whole messages by redirecting error to a file.
