Maybe, but I don't think so. From the extension's page, it looks to me
as if it converts "the following dynamic font schemes" (which is
basically what EOT or PFR is) to Unicode. Now, from my understanding
of Unicode, it is just an encoding and doesn't actually specify the
font. Thus, I need the font specified by the website locally installed
anyway to use this extension - that is, I am back at square one
(especially if the dynamic font is rather obscure and is not available
as a TTF).

AFAIK, mozilla/firefox doesn't have any built-in support for
dynamic fonts. I doubt they even have it in their future plans. The
extension I mentioned actually translates the text encoding to unicode
so that they can be seen using the unicode fonts installed in your
system. By this I mean, you can even copy & paste the text to gedit
and it will still be unicode and viewable if you have any unicode font.

I have no idea about malayalam fonts but unless you are into DTP and
want to print a page with the exact font the site uses, IMHO, it doesn't
really matter :-)
