No thank you, I'm not giving it away.
I believe there is a clause whereby you can vote but say that no party
is worthy of your vote.
So if enough people vote on the "None of the Above" will the Central
Gov decalre anarchy in TN ?
No. But it sends a message to the political parties that :
1. There are a lot of people who are disgruntled about the way things are
and
2. these people wont sit at home grumbling but would take the trouble to go
to the polling booth and register their protest.
The politicians know very well that once such people take the trouble to go
to the polling booth, it takes very little for a candidate with a good
record alone to win. When this happens parties like lokparitran (sure you
would know this party - lokparitran.org) will slowly gain an upperhand. Not
necessary that lokparitran would have to win to make a difference. Just
garnering enough votes to let people know there are alternatives is enough.
At least existing dispensations will be forced to reform themselves.
Dont expect a knight in shining armour to incarnate suddenly, win the
election and change things for good overnight. The rut set in over the years
and it will take years (read many elections) to set it right. Technology
will certainly aid in clearing the rut at a faster pace. Blogs, camera
phones etc have democratised information dissemination. One is no longer
dependent on the 'party owned media' for their news (not entirely so at this
juncture but will happen for sure).
Pls understand that the politicians at present are quite happy that 'the
haves' wont go and vote - because they are hard to influence. So, if you
hope to see a change in your lifetime pls go and register your protest. You
owe this to future generations.
