As an example of how well this works take a look at the recent elections
in Thailand and what happened to Thaksin Shinwatra's "Thai Rak Thai"
party - he is quite as good at offering freebies to woo poor people to
vote for them as jayalalitha / karunanidhi are.. and probably just as
corrupt as they are too.
