You cannot change all of a sudden in the users mind. End user always
has a mind to choose is comfortablity. His mind have been fully loaded
with windows and its environment. His Neighbours would change his mind
and ask him to use windows and they might also said Linux is tough to
use.
I suggest you go with the little....
migrate the user's browser from IE to Firefox
migrate Thunderbird browser from Outlook Express to Thunderbird
migrate Outlook Calendar to Sunbird
migrate windows media player to xine / mplayer / xmms
migrate yahoo/msn msgr to windows gaim msgr
migrate Norton Antivirus to AVG Free Antivirus Edition
Tell the features of these softwares to the user and let him migrate
to these. and slowly migrate MS Office to Open Office v2.
In this way you can say the user how FLOSS is good to use and easy to
use with no cost....Also introduce him to some projects from source
forge so that he can use it for his purpose.....
once you did all this.. it is easy for the user to understand about
FLOSS and Linux OS. then you easily migrate the user to Linux OS from
windows. also show some demo using Knoppix/Mandriva Move....
