I have already tried with php-5.0.4-10.3.src.rpm and got many
dependency problems.

From php.net site i downloaded php-4.4.0.tgz and in the source theyhave a file "makerpm". Running that create mod_php-4.4.0.rpm. Is this

RHEL typically will not release a different major release of a piece
of software. If it started with PHP4, you will get only PHP4 for its
entire lifetime. I consider this a good thing :)
You can try rebuilding the SRPMs from Rawhide. The ones you are
looking for are available at:
