For postgresql, you can use the two phase commit (Prepare and commit
across servers to maintain consistancy) at the application level.
If the geolocation are very well connected, say by redundant fibres,
perhaps you should look at DRBD for block level replication. I have
done DRBD, but within a campus where reliable connectivity could be
guaranteed, and not across districts/continents etc.
