I prescribe in the philosophy of keeping things *separate* in
networking. In this case your ADSL modem and WiFI access point.
DLINK and TPLINK make ADSL modem (with one Ethernet port) that work
with both BSNL/MTNL DSL setup. I would *not* mess with the firmware
in such a device since it has country specific ADSL specifications
built into it. The onus will be on you if you have any DSL syncing
problems with the Tel. Exchange.
You can hook up via Ethernet a WiFi AP and do your WLAN. Cost wise it
will be a more but over the long less headaches; look at TCO and not
just what you have to pay out of pocket *now* This opens up a lot of
possbilities w.r.t. using dd-wrt or openwrt. Just go to respective
sites and see what models are supported and look for the same in the
IN market (make sure you note the hardware rev numbers).
Finally, it would be great if you share your findings so that others
may benefit from your experience i.e. what did you end up doing.
