Try the Nortek drivers from flashtux.org,  the site says its in beta,
but my friends have managed to use it without any major glitches on
kernel 2.6.12 (but not with 2.6.9).

 Tata Indicom offered me " SMC ADSL USB Modem". Are they changing
their modems now and then ?? my connection is 6 months old ! But i too
need help with this modem, though some one earlier had asked me to
change into ethernet type modem from usb.


Yes thats the easiest solution but I think its not possible with my case.
