I have only used the Courier IMAP server and not the MTA/POP/etc.
and would love to hear you rate the MTA, webmail, etc. against well
known peers like Postfix/Exim, Squirrel Mail, etc.
If you are running any POSIX-compliant operating system, setting up
Courier is painless too.
I was always amazed at how easily courier-imap installed on my
debian dubbas. This alone made it my fav imap server for ages,
and for many situations, it still remains my favourite.
However, I really like the MH format for its speed and concurrent
access. Cyrus squatter and Thunderbird saved search folders can
get you really close to the Gmail experience.
Does Courier do shared IMAP folders too? With independent ACLs
for different users? IMO shared mail folders are an absolute necessity
with most offices (eg. a group of people handling support@xxxxxxx,
or sales@xxxxxxx type email accounts).
