What nonsense. Apache2 is as stable as Apache1.3. A large number of
production sites use it. Its stability can be vouched for from the
fact that Redhat defaulted to Apache2 starting RHEL3.

Bleeding edge is Apache 2.1.

when compared to apache, apache2 and php do not go together that well. i
use php 5 and apache2 but i use it only for learning purposes. most of
the webservers still run on php 4 and apache 1.3  combo as they are a

spread by the PHP team that Apache2 is not good. You might want to

More websites run Apache 1.3 because it is legacy - the same way most
DNS servers run Bind4 or most email servers run Sendmail 8.9.
