1)which processor do u recommend in athlon XP series and which motherboard is
suggested to accomodate a good graphics(NVDIA) and sound cards ? i heard its
mostly used for gaming but how is the performance if i use it for medium to
large scale computational purposes ?
2)also is there any computer hardware magazine which has details of the same
with uptodate prices ?

I use AMD Athlon 2KXP. No Problem. Price is < Intel. Performance ==
Intel.
Overheating of the processor is a definite annoyance though.
My CPU has at least two extra cooling fans and lots of space for air
circulation / ventilation, so that's a great help.
