Are you trying to use autofs for getting a usb device mounted whenever
it is plugged in? I would suggest that you use gnome-volume-manager
(if u need icons and other gui stuff) or usbmount (more bare bones).
AFAIK autofs is not meant for this.
The machine I am using is Slackware 10.2, kernel 2.4.31. No GNOME.
And, autofs works just fine with all USB devices I am bothered about,
so I guess I wouldn't need anything else. I do not have usbmount. Do
check the Automounting mini HOWTO, autofs is certainly *one* of the
ways to get this done, though there may be newer and better ways.
Thanks.
