Unable to connect laptop-Acer 4152 NLCi to the internet
INTRO:lost much data mainly due to viruses in winxp pro os .so,to use a goo=
d distro of=20
linux on laptop;
Acer 4152 NLCi laptop came with "linpus"linux; this distro linpus opened on=
ly text mode; barely=20
functional;So,acer loaded win xp pro sp2 on 40gb and dual boot into=20
next 20 gb on RHL 9 ver 2.4.20;MODEM could not be configured;Ten days=20
later,acer sent a drivercalled "ageresoftmodembeta 2.1.0 tar"; even=20
with this, the modem couldnt be configured;
Therefore, was advised by acer to try RHEL 4 ver 2.6.9 ; then also (using a=
=20
2.6 kernel) modem could not be configured;Kindly note that this=20
laptop has "agere soft modem".STFW done.result =3D too many tech stuff=20
not understandable.Being newbie unable to proceed further.
Require simple easy steps to proceed.
am i loading the wrong distro? is there a separate procedure for=20
agere soft modem?
where am i wrong please?
before i try for a replacement of the laptop from acer(bought 45 days back)=
, i am attempting help from lugc
if i attend the lug meet on sep 10, can i recive any help from the seniors
