Could you please let us know why Duck Duck Go is a more sane
alternative to Google?

I presume you refer to the fact that they don't store cookies, IP
addresses and personal information. But database wise, they still
depend on Yahoo's BOSS. 

actually my point is that ilugc should not recommend google (or
duckduckgo for that matter) The rule should be: use a search engine
before asking questions. I am not going to argue in favour of duckduckgo
- except to say that it gives me much better and accurate results than I
get from Google. And it looks free-er than google to me.
