what i've discovered over the past few years,
even the word 'foss' is difficult to explain to non-foss people,
even if those people are otherwise techies.
nevertheless, 'foss' as a word is gaining traction.
am sure your event is a national event, so you need to present that in the name.
a name that is clearly understood in english would work better for
this event, but you know better what works in chennai.
a web-search shows me only 5 results for fossconf, one already
pointing to your mailing list. so i would strongly recommend you just
jump immediately and take that name. that name just so rocks! i hope
you guys take it before someone else does.
