Prema getting pronounced as Brema ..
[OT]
i analysed this quite a bit and there are two possible reasons that came to me
from sources i approached..
1) the four "ka" etc., sounding should have existed in tamil and letter
representation for them should have gone in the medival ages.
2) non native tamil words have such problems and such words should have been
derived from sanskrit etc.,
there are rules in tamil grammer as to where it should be "ka" etc., and where
it should be "ga"
practise makes it perfect or knowledge of grammar helps...
like a "ka" as in "kalvi" is pronouced as 'ka' and 'ka' as in 'vaanka' is
pronounced as 'ga'
when some one mis-spells as in case of "Brema", its root as it is clear in
this case is sanskrit
remember this is not the case
in 'pavalam', 'paarthiban', 'pani, 'pallavan', 'paar', 'parisu', 'pattiyal',
'pendatti', 'pillai', 'pasumai' 'pari' 'pazhi'
etc.,
while its 'ba' is the following,
'panbu' 'anbu' 'thembu' 'kambu' 'thambi'
when its its own 'mei' that comes before its again lighter
'thappi', 'seruppu', 'appavi' etc.,
there are set of rules defined..
3) grantha letters are even now in use sa, sha, ja for this purpose and the
script of grantha is south-indian.
and it goes on...
