[Ilugc] install linux without internet access

Did you try using a live CD ? You get a browser without having to
install one.

I dont understand the basic problem. I have installed Linux (Suse,
Slackware, Ubuntu ) many times in places where there are no Internet
access. Maybe, we wont get the extra repositories. But the basic
system
will install and work.

I have been installing various distros without internet - without even
lan cards since 1994. This is the first time I have failed. Later in the
installation process, one is allowed to choose to install from the
locally mounted repo, but you *need* internet to reach this stage. 

In our eagerness to show  the power of Linux we make the one big
blunder
which one should avoid at all cost. Take a backup first. And, if it is
just to show how Linux works, start with a live CD.
This is a lesson for all of us.

there was nothing to back up - this machine just had factory installed
doze. No other files.
