Do not know how but my /etc/mtab permissions have changed due to
which I'm unable to mount my partitions. /dev/sda5 is listed in
/etc/fstab but while mounting it gives an error saying /etc/mtab
permission denied. This is not my primary partition but has data in
it.
As root user, what does "ls -l /etc/mtab" show? If you cannot mount and
fix perms as root user then your system is hosed. Rebooting might
solve the problem.
