b/g: i have been using windows n micros't since 99,lost much data mainly du=
e to viruses . decided to buy a laptop n use a good distro of linux.
2. 40 days ago i bought an Acer 4152 NLCi laptop and it came with "linpus"=
linux; this distro linpus opened only text mode; barely functional;So,acer =
loaded win xp pro sp2 on 40gb and dual boot into next 20 gb on RHL 9 ver 2.=
4.20;MODEM could not be configured;Ten days later,acer sent a drivercalled =
"ageresoftmodembeta 2.1.0 tar"; even with this, the modem couldnt be config=
ured;
Therefore, was advised by acer to try RHEL 2.6.9 ; then also (using a 2.6 k=
ernel) modem could not be configured;Please note that this laptop has "ager=
e soft modem".STFW done.result =3D too many tech stuff not understandable.B=
eing newbie unable to proceed further.
require simple easy steps to proceed.
am i loading the wrong distro? is there a separate procedure for agere soft=
modem?
where am i wrong please?
3. can I attend a lug meeting in chennai? i just registered yestrerday? wil=
l someone be kind enough to give me details to find out the next date?
