[Ilugc] problem in the output of which command

$ export MACHTYPE="i686"
$ which ls
machtype: Command not found.
/usr/bin/ls
still I am getting the same Issue !

In my Debian system, MACHTYPE is set to
"i386-pc-linux-gnu".
You need to set and export MACHTYPE.
export MACHTYPE="i686"
or add it in your ~/.bashrc.
