It's not the only voice chat client on linux.

It's gaim modified to work with the SIP protocol - a technology
competing with Skype.
haven't tried either, so can't comment on usability, etc.
It's funny though.. here we have IM clients perfectly capable of
transmitting text which can be typed on large comfortable keyboards
but we want to voice chat although the quality might be less than
stellar, the experience less than natural.
And then we have mobile phones where the device is perfectly capable
of transmitting crystal clear voice (well, usually!) but we want to
text chat by abusing our fingers typing SMSs on the most unintuitive
text input device possible.
