Jim, The primary reason I use Thunderbird over another client e-mail application is the ability to keep my various e-mail accounts separated easily. Each has its own inbox and outbox and trash and such in an easy to navigate tree view. I also like some of the differences in how e-mail is sent to someone in the address book. And, I've got the accounts saved on my computer in a way that makes backing them up or moving the data to a different machine quite easy. Sue B.
