I'm simply trying to navigate a PowerPoint presentation. Very simple, and
very doable, but there seems to be a specific problem that crops up every
now and then, and jaws 10 loses its marbles, permanently.

Hi Sina,
Not sure what you're trying to accomplish.  If it happens to be reading
the text of the .ppt file, EdSharp does a pretty good conversion with
the Open Other Format command, Control+Shift+O.
