Doug,
thanks for that KeyMapChangedEvent reference. This function actually
appears to behave much like KeyPressed Event. I can't find it listed int he
FSDN, and so was just experimenting with it, to try to figure out what it
actually does.
It doesn't run with all key strokes, but it does most of them. It runs for
keys to which scripts are attached, and not the rest. Or, so I believe.
The parameters seem to be the key code, and key name.
What I was hoping for, is a function that runs when layers are entered, and
exited. Of course, I could implement logic for that in this function, by
evaluating the key names in light of my new layer, and it's elements.
I was just hoping gthis function would do that work for me. Am I missing
something?

I believe what you're looking for is the KeyMapChangedEvent.

Guys, did we already talk about this? If you remember, con grats. I
don't. Reminder please.
Is there an event that fires when a layer is activated?
Likewise, when it is exited?
How does jaws make that little click clock sound when the fs layer is
activated.
Thanks much.
