Hi Geoff, I ran into something like this. I did a repair on my old JAWS, but told it to keep my user settings. I reinstalled. All worked fine for me. Keep in mind that I had very little personal scripts at the time. Jim Jim Homme, Usability Services, Phone: 412-544-1810. Skype: jim.homme Internal recipients, Read my accessibility blog. Scripters. Can anyone else confirm that internally updating jaws constantly seems to fail on their systems? I'm wondering at precise cause of this, if anyone has determined? I'm posting here because I suspect it's something to do with those who script things and maybe mess with their default.jsb's as does skype scripts and maybe other's installation, or maybe placing other files into the enu, or personalized settings folder, as hsc obviously does, or perhaps placing other backup folders, in the settings directory? anyone got any specific info/clues on this? Basically after it doing the download and partial install etc, it comes up with the error message that the components could not be installed, and to try running a repair and then running the update again. does anyone know actually technically what that does, or how I might render the relevant folders updatable, manually? such that I don't have to clobber the whole jolly thing with a repair, and not know what it's gunna do that I'll then have to try and figure out etc? thanks very much for any clues. geoff c. __________ View the list's information and change your settings at http://www.freelists.org/list/jawsscripts This e-mail and any attachments to it are confidential and are intended solely for use of the individual or entity to whom they are addressed.
