I have also run into this even while reading emails. It has been happening on Internet programs and I figured it was my connection. I use my XP machine with Jaws 13 for emails. Strangely enough while I am writing this I did the insert up arrow and there was something like a 2 second delay before it read, and as you said it just processed an up arrow and didn't read the current line. I have also noticed this on my Windows 7, 64 bit with Jaws 15 so it doesn't seem to discriminate. ----- Original Message ----- From: "Jim Snowbarger" <Snowman@xxxxxxxxxxxxxxxx> To: <jawsscripts@xxxxxxxxxxxxx> Sent: Wednesday, June 11, 2014 7:07 PM Subject: [jawsscripts] Unexpected Lags Guys, Lately, I have been noticing very strange behavior on newer installations of jaws, strange lags in processing. This happens on several different machines. One annoying behavior is that, from the time I press a braille routing key, until the cursor actually lands on the targeted character, is longer than I have ever seen. So, if you wack a routing key, you have to consciously stop and confirm that the cursor has landed where you want before taking any action. It can really slow you down. Another is that after typing text into any word processing or text editing app, that there is a delay before you can reliably press insert+upArrow to read the line you just typed. Often, the insert+key gets missed, and the unmodified UpArrow is sent instead. Yes, at least two different keyboards. So, I don't think it is a keyboard issue. It never happens when text has not been recently typed. but, it is as if JAWS takes a while to digest the fact that the line was updated. I have not fully nutted down exactly when and where this happens, and does not. But, it is always a newer computer, and not always the latest version of jaws. It is just the kind of think that makes me eager to update my technology. Has anyone else seen this? Does anybody know, is there any way of stopping it? __________ View the list's information and change your settings at http://www.freelists.org/list/jawsscripts __________ View the list's information and change your settings at http://www.freelists.org/list/jawsscripts
