Glenda,
Very nice.
There has been a fairly steady population of white-crowned sparrows (actually a
mixture of adults and juveniles) feeding around some of the bordering cedars at
the Lubbock Cemetery over the past month. They often are in the same areas as
you find dark-eyed juncos feeding on the ground.
If you don't have any juveniles among the group you observed, the Cemetery is a
good place to catch a glimpse of one.
Best,
Joe

Subject: [leasbirds] 1st Winter White-crowned Sparrow
I don’t think I’ve ever noted a 1st Winter (Aug-Apr) White-crowned Sparrow
until this morning. I have a group of WCs who feed early and late when there
aren’t a lot of other birds feeding. The 1st Winter bird really stood out from
the others by appearance.
