I filled in for Aveline Hewetson this morning, leading five LEAS birders
(Jeanne Davis, Tom Dolan, Toni Dolan, Paula Richardson, and Tess Trost) on a
field trip at Clapp Park and the adjoining arboretum. Between 8:00 and 10:00
AM we saw:
1 Orange Sulphur
1 Sharp-shinned Hawk
1 Red-shouldered Hawk (heard only)
18 Eurasian Collared Doves
7 White-winged Doves
3 Mourning Doves
1 Yellow-bellied Sapsucker
1 Merlin
2 Blue Jays
1 Ruby-crowned Kinglet
2 Mountain Bluebirds
1 Townsend's Solitaire
1 American Robin
2 Northern Mockingbirds
1 European Starling
2 Yellow-rumped Warblers
2 Song Sparrows
1 Lincoln's Sparrow
1 Swamp Sparrow
1 White-crowned Sparrow
3 Northern Cardinals
8 Red-winged Blackbirds
9 Great-tailed Grackles
4 House Finches
7 Eastern Gray Squirrels
