[leasbirds] Gone Goose, Hello Purple Martins

Well, 99% of the geese left this week! It has been so quiet!
We live between 4 of the deeper city lakes and have enjoyed the sounds of the
geese flying low over our
yard all winter long.
But, just this morning (2-23-14) our son Brad spotted the first 2 Purple Martin
scouts circling our yard, so the
sounds of the geese will be replaced by the chatter of the martins.
We also have Cardinals singing and the House Finches are singing.
This has been the bleakest winter for yard bird watching we have ever had in 50
years!
No siskins at all, only about 3 goldfinches, only about 2 juncos and only 1
White crowned sparrow all winter long.
