This weekend, I ventured to a number of small communities north and west of
Lubbock.
The most exciting thing I witnessed was a flock of no less than 500
Green-winged Teal outside Hart TX (feedlot operation water holding). Saw them
on Saturday and returned on Sunday to view again. I’ve never witnessed such a
large group before.
Northern Harriers, Red-tailed Hawks, and American Kestrels were abundant along
my drive both days. 3 Lesser Scaup at Hart also.
Drove to Muleshoe Refuge which was still closed (reopening today). So many
Sandhill Cranes across the road (unlocked viewing area).
