I am going to take it one further. FREE ROAMING cats are the issue.  Pet cats that are allowed to roam even when well fed are a menace to native fauna.

I agree!! I was trying to be nice. We gave so many ferals around us and our little 15 year old fur baby has gone blind and can’t patrol the back yard anymore.  I’m going to Hope if was the Fox we’ve seen. 😊

As an aside to everyone on the listserv - bird deaths due to feral cats are not the circle of life. Feral cats are the #1 most invasive species on the planet and cause more bird deaths worldwide than any other means. They also kill countless native mammals, reptiles and amphibians, and invertebrates and have caused the extinction of several species around the world. Anything we can do discourage feral cats from as many areas as possible is in wildlife's best interest.
Feral cats are not a native species in any ecosystem in the world. They were bred and domesticated (like dogs) over thousands of years and do not belong outside.

Thanks Brad. I wasn’t sure what part of bird it came from.  Looking closer. I do see it on the wings.  Makes me sad. But that is the circle of life.

This is indeed a Spotted Towhee. You can see the white on the wings.
Chimney swifts beaks are completely different.

Hey, could use help with ID Merlin says chimney swift. I was watering the front yard. He must have fallen prey to a cat or fox. So black in color. At first I thought Spotted Towhee but no white spots.
