Hi All,
The pair of Broad-Winged hawks returned for a third night in their roost here.
Around 4 pm I took a short walk with Sophie at Erskine Marsh. A short,
bugle-like sound in the reeds inspired me to play a Sora call. Sure enough,
the hidden Sora answered in full Sora mode. There was a similar, but shorter
bugle-like note at Lake 3, but I didn't get a response from a call. So, at
least one Sora in Erskine Marsh.
Also present:
One Burrowing OwlOne pair each of Gadwall and Blue-Winged TealOne LBJ in the
reeds that behaved more like a sparrow than a marsh wren; maybe a Lincoln's.
But never got a second look. One Marsh Wren, according to Sophie, whose eyes I
have come to implicitly trust. The usual suspects: coot, grackle, red-winged
blackbird, various dove species.
And prairie puppies!
