Plains I Breeding Bird Survey - located from northwest of Plains to west of
Lehman, straddling Yoakum and Cochran Countis, run on 7 June 2015 are as
follows:
1 Yellow-billed Cuckoo northwest of Plains in Yoakum County.
16 Scaled Quails scattered along the route, 1 Painted Bunting northwest of
Plains, 1 Dickcissel northwest of Plains, 2 Verdins northwest of Plains, 1
Bell's Vireo northwest of Plains, 1 Painted Bunting southwest of Lehman,
and 1 Dickcissel - all in Cochran County.
Other highlights from Cochran County: 1 Scaled Quail west of Lehman, 1
Painted Bunting west of Lehman, 1 Dickcissel in Lehman, 5 Cave Swallows
south of Lehman, 2 Blue-winged Teals southeast of Lehman, 4 Blue-winged
Teals southwest of Whiteface, 2 Black-necked Stilts southwest of Whiteface,
4 American Avocets southwest of Whiteface, and 4 White-faced Ibises south
of Whiteface.
Highlights from Hockley County: 1 Scaled Quail west of Arnett, 4
Blue-winged Teals west of Arnett, 2 American Avocets west of Arnett, 2
American Avocets east of Arnett, 4 Purple Martins east of Arnett, and 1
Dickcissel east of Arnett.
Highlights from Lubbock County: 1 Cackling Goose, 2 Canada Geese, 2
Doubley-crested Cormorants, 2 Snowy Egrets, and 27 Cattle Egrets - all at
Leroy Elmore Park in Lubbock.
