Greetings All:
Today, I decided to focus on the Canyon Lakes of Lubbock and the
Lubbock Cemetery. Each stop kicked out something pretty cool.
At Buddy Holly Park - 1 Fox Sparrow.
At Lake Two - 2 Wilson's Snipes and 3 Barn Swallows.
At Erskine Marsh - 1 Wilson's Snipe, 1 Scissor-tailed Flycatcher, 1
Rock Wren (on the rock and debris piles across the street to the
north), and 1 Common Yellowthroat.
At Aztlan Park - 1 Green Heron, 1 Black Phoebe (got pictures - made up
for dipping at Clapp Park yesterday), 2 Barn Swallows, and 1
Orange-crowned Warbler.
At MacKenzie Park - 2 Black-necked Stilts, 2 Wilson's Snipes, 1
White-faced Ibis, 1 Golden-fronted Woodpecker (on the golf course from
Joyland), 1 Purple Martin, 4 Barn Swallows, and 1 Eastern Bluebird.
At Mae Simmons Park - 2 female and 1 male Cinnamon Teals, 1 Neotropic
Cormorant, and 1 Snowy Egret.
At Lake Six - 2 Blue-winged Teals, 1 Spotted Sandpiper, 2 Great
Egrets, 1 Snowy Egret, 2 Tree Swallows, 17 Barn Swallows, 1 Hermit
Thrush, and 7 White-crowned Sparrows.
Below Lake Six - 2 female and 2 male Cinnamon Teals, 1 Solitary
Sandpiper, 2 Ash-throated Flycatchers, 1 Winter Wren, 1 Carolina Wren,
2 White-crowned Sparrows, and 1 Common Yellowthroat.
At the Lubbock Cemetery - 2 Bushtits (finally got a picture of one of
these elusive beasts), 4 Chipping Sparrows, 5 White-crowned Sparrows,
and 2 Orange-crowned Warblers.
I bet I added at least ten to my circle list for the year - maybe I'll
get something in the yard today as well - the day is young:)
