Greetings All:
After completing the Muleshoe NWR CBC (the subject of a separate post -
pending a few needed details) I headed on out for a few hours in Hockley
County. I haven't many days left available in 2016 and want to squeeze in
a few more critters.
I spent 3.5 hours in the county and highlights, with things drying down as
much as they have, were few and far between: 1 Blue-winged Teal at the
Smyer Playa, 4 Canvasbacks at the Sundown WTP, 6 Redheads at the Sundown
WTP, 1 Greater Yellowlegs at the Smyer Playa, 1 Say's Phoebe in Pep, 1
House Wren in Pep, 1 Hermit Thrush at the Smyer Playa, 2 Field Sparrows in
Pep, and 1 Fox Sparrow near Petit.
Field Sparrow was new to my 2016 list for the county - and I did get a
couple of acceptable photographs:)
