The Lubbock County CBC will be held on Saturday, 17 December 2022.
Teams will assemble at locations selected by team leaders at 7:30 AM,
counting will continue through 5:00, and the potluck/countdown will be
held at the compiler's house - with the intention of starting the
countdown at 6:30 ... so that people have plenty of time to rest up
for the Muleshoe NWR CBC. The count circle is divided into eight
areas so I need eight team leaders and as many counters as I can get.
The current line-up is as follows (if anybody has been in touch with
me and I inadvertently left their name off, please let me know) and,
as you can see, I still need several more counters.
Area 1) Eastern Portion of Circle/Ransom Lake - Manuel De Leon, Jeremy Clark
Area 2) City Farms and vicinity - Anthony Hewetson
Area 3) V8 Ranch and Buffalo Springs Lake - Tucker Dangremond, Grant Ellis
Area 4) Southern Portion of the Circle - Glenda Kelly, Matt Smith
Area 5) The Canyon Lakes - Phillip Kite, Len Hovey, Peter Keyel
Area 6) The Northwest - Bobby Schat, Barry Keith
Area 7) East Lubbock - Sheri Anderson, Nancy Neill
Area 8) West Lubbock - William Wenthe, Lena Zappia
The Muleshoe NWR CBC will be held on Sunday, 18 December 2022. We
will meet at Refuge Headquarters (I do not know if we have access to
the residence this year or not) at 7:30, will bird from 8:00 until
noon, and then hold the countdown at the residence (if possible) or
turn sheets over to the compiler - who will conduct an e-countdown for
all participants when he gets home. This is a refuge-restricted count
so there are only four areas. Thus I need four team leaders and quite
a few counters. The current line-up is as follows and I still need a
few counters.
Area 1) East of Highway 214 - Anthony Hewetson, Sheri Anderson
Area 2) The Northern Plateau - Manuel De Leon, Grant Ellis
Area 3) Headquarters, Campground, and White Lakes - Glenda Kelly,
Lucie Brennan, Barry Keith, Matt Smith, Lena Zappia
Area 4) Goose Lakes and The Rim - Phillip Kite, Tucker Dangremond?,
Barry Keith, Len Hovey
The White River Lake CBC will be held on Saturday, 31 December 2022.
We will meet at the White River Lake Marina at 7:30, bird until 5:00,
and then turn our sheets over to the compiler who will hold an on-line
countdown as soon as he gets home. LEAS will cover lake fees for the
affected teams. This circle is divided into five areas so I need five
team leaders and as many counters as I can get. The current line-up
is as follows ... and I could use several more counters.

Area 2) The Great White North - Rich Kostecke, Brandon Best, Drew Harvey

Area 5) The West and the Southwest - Lena Zappia, Barry Keith
If you wish to participate in any or all of these counts, please let
me know (806-25-1213 or fattonybirds@xxxxxxxxx). Birders at all skill
levels are useful and this is a great way for beginning birders to
pick up some skills and for experienced birders to pass on said
skills. It has, thus far, been an interesting season in the region
and all three counts could kick out noteworthy species and, I am told,
that this is a great opportunity to connect with the local birding
community and, well, have a little fun.
