Yesterday, 5-16-21.
Much of this area was a first for me. I was a bit unprepared for the
flooded and soggy areas but feet and tennis shoes dry out right?
I’m still on the quest for a green tailed towhee and male lazuli bunting but
had a couple FOS and a “hadn’t seen in over 30 years” bird.
2 pairs northern flickers
Brewers sparrows
Lark sparrows
Lincoln’s sparrow
Ash throated fly catcher
Western wood. Peewee
Olive sided flycatcher
Snowy egret
Yellow crowned night heron
Yellow warbler
Wilson’s warbler
Painted bunting
Blue grosbeak
Wild turkey
(FOS)
Yellow breasted chat (lifer)
Yellow billed cuckoo (hadn’t seen in over 30 years)
Overall a great morning and did this midwesterner’s heart good to be out
slinging around in flooded and marshy areas.
The flooded woods reminded me more of “home”.
