Hi All, Based on Anthony's sightings, I headed down to the Arboretum and Clapp Park late morning/early afternoon. The birding was a little slow, but I did see: Western kingbirds Robins House sparrows House finches Grackles White-crowned sparrows Chipping sparrows Male and female yellow-rumped warblers Wilson's warbler Unknown hummingbird I got a good look at the hummingbird sitting on the end of a branch in the sun. It was the drabbest looking hummer I have ever seen with an all brown head and throat and dingy light brown/whitish stomach and back. Subtle flashes of green behind the eye and on the shoulders as it looked around. Short bill and wings did not appear to extend to the tail tip. First instinct was a black-chinned but the more I looked it just didn't seem right. Suggestions? The birds were starting to pick up when the city showed up for maintenance. Oh well.
