Greetings All:
There will be no completion with the fellows this year: instead, I
will be focusing on getting into the 700 club (700 lifers in the ABA
region) this year. I started at 670 on 1/1/19 and have already added
Little Gull and Fork-tailed Flycatcher (in Texas, David, so not
breaking the texbirds rules) - two down; twenty-eight to go. I think
the fellows have a similar goal but am not sure - I look forward to
seeing how they do.
I will be repeating the 2018 photographic game: photo-documenting my
yard, shooting for 40 species of butterfly, 0 species of amphibian, 2
species of reptile, 80 species of bird, and 4 species of mammal with
90% of the species seen recognizably photographed. I don't know if I
will make it but I sure hope I do better than last year and I will
share my results, as usual, on a monthly basis.
The other 'game' I will be going for this year is to get closer to
having my eBird life match my field notes life; specifically to get
closer to having all 254 Texas Counties eBirded to 100 species or
more. I have something along the lines of twenty years of field notes
not yet entered into eBird and am going to really put my back into
getting a significant chunk of this mass out of the way this year.
You won't be seeing as much of me on texbirds and leasbirds this year
but I will be out there, plugging away at all sorts of 'fun' chores.
Anthony Hewetson; Lubbock.
