Greetings, I was on my way up north when I checked the forecast for the hundredth time. The forecast had gotten worse and it was no longer a good idea for me to go up there. I had just pulled in to Abernathy. I decided to take the long way home. I drove out to 400 before heading south and a little east to the Becton area. There were hardly any birds and zero water. Best bird was a single Vesper Sparrow. I had thousands of Sandhill Cranes headed north east. That was a pretty cool sight. I made my way down 400 to Ransom Canyon. I was hoping for some swallows or a Turkey Vulture. No luck. I did have quite a few Common Mergansers still on the lake and a few hundred geese. The best bird was a Brown Creeper at the Chapel. Signs of migration are about. I wonder how this spring will shape up. If we don't get much more moisture it is going to be a lot like 2011. Cameron Carver Lubbock, TX
