It is just a landscape shot - I moved here in 1998 and I have never
seen the site flooded to that extent. There were actually about 200
ducks scattered about but I doubt any can be made out.

The image sent is 4607x2145 pixels, ending up as 2.75MB.
Crop does not reduce the pixel count.
The resize function is good for this.
Resize to 1000x750 will still be a clear picture, but much lower
megabytes.
