Tuesday of this week I went out to Yellow House Canyon CR 7300. I have
been venturing out there the last couple of weeks to see the painted
buntings and whatever else I can find. I've see several painted buntings
males and females, Ash throated flycatcher, blue grosbeaks, dove,
swainson's hawk, turkey vultures, eastern bluebirds, and 2 woodpeckers
(possible Red-bellied) The woodpeckers kept flying from one side of the
road to the other. They were loud and seemed stressed. That is when I
noticed this guy, see photo below. I believe he is a Great Horned Owl.
Lifer!! I've always wanted to see one. He was majestic and I think he was
pissing off the woodpeckers!!
Stay cool,
Kassie
