We were out at the northern playa in Clapp Park to look for blackbirds on
Sunday afternoon. They were all gone (except the grackles), but we saw two
birds that were new for us: a loggerhead shrike and a hermit thrush.

PS Also spotted a lone American Avocet at the playa near 103rd and Slide Rd.
