Quello che voleva dire Gino è che le schede gigabit configurano
automaticamente la porta come MDI o MDI-X durante l'autonegoziazione,
quindi in genere non c'è bisogno di usare un cavo incrociato per collegare
direttamente due porte gigabit, siano esse le porte di due PC (normalmente
MDI) o di due switch (normalmente MDI-X).
Questa è una feature opzionale del 1000BASE-T, ma in pratica tutti gli
switch che ho visto e tutte le schede di un certo livello la implementano.

Se cerchi trovi pure il cavo ethernet a Gb.
Sì, sui cataloghi trovi anche cavi cat. 5E o 6 incrociati. C'è ancora tanto
hardware 100BASE-TX. :)
