Hi,
I am a PhD candidate in the Committee on evolutionary biology at the
University of Chicago. I will be carrying out field work from
mid-April-June end in eastern Himalayas on interactions between birds
and ants.
I am looking for one field assistant to help me with fieldwork in
Chapramari Wildlife Sanctuary and Neora Valley National park. Most of
the fieldwork will be carried out in Chapramari. The fieldwork will
have many components including foliage insect sampling, putting up
nest boxes for birds, monitoring nests, carrying out artificial nest
experiment, catching birds in mist-nets to collect feces and
collecting ants.
An ideal candidate will have some experience of insect sampling and
identifying insects up to the order level or have experience with
using mist nets and handling birds. Also, we cook for ourselves at the
field site, so cooking is a necessary skill for this project.
All the food, lodging and transportation costs will be covered for the
duration of the project and I will be happy to provide a small stipend
as well.
