Here's an opportunity to conduct surveys with wildlife tourists!
Centre for Wildlife Studies offers field volunteer position for conducting
surveys with tourists visiting two premiere protected areas in Karnataka
and Madhya Pradesh in February and March, 2021. Volunteers will assist in
the research efforts, for a minimum of 7 days.
Volunteer requirements:
a) Must be a people's person as you will be required to interact with a
diverse set of tourists.
b) Must be fluent in English/Kannada/Hindi (additional fluency in
Malayalam, Tamil, Telugu, or Marathi would be a plus) - More the merrier!
c) Preferable but not mandatory:
i) A Bachelor's or Master's degree in wildlife biology, life sciences,
environmental sciences, sociology, anthropology, or psychology
ii) Past experience in conducting social surveys
iii) A valid 4-wheeler/2-wheeler driving license with experience in
driving/riding
d) Willing to put up with basic food and accommodation
Field expenses including lodging, food, and travel within the field site
would be covered for all participants. However, the applicant has to bear
the cost of reaching the field site. Since this is an unpaid opportunity,
all volunteers will be provided a Certificate of Participation.
Additionally, the volunteers who assist till the end of the project (less
than a month) in each field site will be taken on a free wildlife safari.
*Please note, it is mandatory for participants to submit their COVID-19
test results taken 48 hours prior to arrival.*
